The Heart Connection Children’s Cancer Programs will celebrate 22 years of camping at “This Camp Rocks!” starting next month, and we are excited that you will be a part of it.

From now through August, you can get involved and help off-set the cost of Camp Heart Connection for children battling cancer and their siblings by participating in our annual “Campership Drive!” NEW this year, for every camper or staff that raises a full camper scholarship ($300), they will earn $10 CHC bucks to be used on Heart Connection apparel!

Helping is easy!
  • Ask your friends, families, and co-workers to help make camp possible for one child this summer.
  • Your goal is only $300. However, you do not have to stop there.
  • Sponsor a cabin of kids for $1,750, and your name will appear on a cabin at camp.

Here is the best part!
  • Go online at http://www.firstgiving.com/ChildrensCancerPrograms. Once on the website, click on Create a Fundraising Page and then select Campership Drive. Send your link out to all of your friends and family and let them know why camp is so important to you and your family! You can personalize your page and share fun camp stories to help encourage people to support your fundraising efforts!
  • You can still go door to door and ask all your friends and family to support you. A pledge sheet is included with this mailing.

Please get started right away and encourage your friends and family to help you in supporting Camp Heart Connection this summer! We know that during these challenging and uncertain times, it is important to use discretion in making charitable donationst. We hope that you will support The Heart Connection Children’s Cancer Programs and Camp Heart Connection by sharing our message with others! Please contact Tiffany at Tiffany@childrenscancerprograms.com with any questions you may have.

Tips for Fundraising
Involve as many people as possible.

Invite family, friends, coworkers, and anyone else you know to join your efforts. The more people who know about The Heart Connection and your Campership Drive Team, the more chance you have to meet your team’s goal.

Set a Goal

It is always easier to motivate a team when there is a goal in mind. Decide what you and your teammates are capable of and willing to do and go from there.
Organize Your Efforts

Don’t try to run everything yourself! Designate other team members to be in charge of certain aspects of your Campership Drive. Stay in touch with teammates and keep everyone informed of what is happening with the team.

Try a Fundraising Event

Make use of fundraising techniques utilized by major corporations in your work environment. Organize a jeans or casual day for employees and coworkers or place collection containers around the office or cafeteria for colleagues to donate spare change. Hold a bake sale, spaghetti dinner, garage sale, bowl-a-thon, a private event such as a Birthday, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, First Communion, or Anniversary by accepting donations to The Heart Connection in lieu of gifts or flowers.

Make it Easy to Donate

Utilize the option to donate online through your giving webpage. Offer to come out and pick up checks from donors. Enclose a self-addressed envelope in your letters you send out. When talking to a person directly, offer to take a check right then and there.

Keep In Touch with Donors

Stay in touch with your donors and supporters through out the year, not just during the Campership Drive. Send updates about your involvement with volunteering for The Heart Connection, a picture of your child attending camp this summer, and basic news happening at The Heart Connection. By staying in touch with your donors, they will know that you appreciate them as a person and not just for their money!
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!!

You can never thank a donor or teammate enough. Remind these people how important they were and are to the success of your Campership Drive and to The Heart Connection. Be sure to thank those who choose not to donate to your Campership Drive. When asked to donate again next year, that person will remember your thank you for even considering your request – this could lead to a new supporter of your cause!
